I was a goofy kid who liked to draw so I loved the funny pages. So much so that my parents encouraged me to write to my favorite cartoonists. Much to my surprise, some of them actually wrote back with some great cartooning tips!

Following their advice, I kept practicing and created a portfolio. One lucky day, my Mom dropped it off at our local paper and I got a cartooning job! I became the Yucaipa News Mirror’s editorial cartoonist and they published my comics.

So during my teenage years I’d stay up late cartooning and the next day my Dad would drive me to the newspaper’s office to hand in my comics before school. That was the only homework that mattered to me because I wanted to be a cartoonist, but had to teach myself how to do it.

Now I’ve got a cartoony career, I’m a member of the National Cartoonists Society, and I still love to scribble on stuff.
